Position Overview The Trustees of Reservations is seeking a dynamic and seasoned Director of Finance to oversee their finance department, while building and managing the financial systems and processes needed to support a growing, entrepreneurial organization. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance & Administration, managing three accounting staff and working closely with the senior leadership team, the Director of Finance will lead the organizations annual budgeting process ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and goals, prepare timely and accurate financial reports, coordinate and oversee organizational audits and preparation of Federal and state filings, and manage the ongoing compliance and reporting on grants and other restricted funds. This is a highly visible position with growth potential that requires strong accounting, financial management and analytical skills, along with exceptional interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with a variety of constituents.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain a system of financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP reporting, IRS and other regulatory requirements
- Develop, monitor and continually refine the systems of internal controls
- Prepare quarterly and annual GAAP financial statements for TTOR and affiliated entities
- Work closely with Advancement and program staff on grant management; including development of budgets and applications; on-going administration, compliance and reporting requirements; and grant-specific audits
- Maintain systems for tracking and reporting on donor restricted and endowment funds to monitor compliance with donors intent and organizational policies
- Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budget process ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities
- Supervise three accounting staff including the Controller, Accounting Administrator and Staff Accountant
- Monitor and analyze revenues, expenses and cash flow against budget for updating seasonal forecasts
- Train and support program staff on the use of budgets and monthly cash flow reports
- Oversee the annual audit preparations and process
- Prepare the information needed for preparation of Federal and state tax filings
- Assist the CFO with financial analysis and presentations in supporting the Finance, Audit, Investment and Business Development Committees
- Manage external vendors including banking and insurance relationships
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of work experience in the field of finance and accounting; knowledge of nonprofit accounting required
- Experience utilizing financial management software; knowledge of Blackbaud Financial and/or Raisers Edge preferred
- Knowledge of nonprofit and for-profit Federal and state tax issues and filings
- Grants-management experience; federal grants management experience preferred
- Superior detail orientation and organizational skills

About the Opportunity:
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Development and Communications holds the primary responsibility for RESPONDs fundraising and friend-raising strategies. Through grant writing, major donor and individual giving initiatives, events, direct mail appeals, corporate and government relations the Director of Development and Communications will focus on the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of funding sources and key partnerships. Through the development and dissemination of electronic and printed media, the Director of Development and Communications will be responsible for maintaining donor engagement through on-going communication strategies which increase the visibility of RESPOND and create awareness of the serious public health issue of domestic violence. Piers Park Sailing Center, a nationally recognized center for adaptive sailing, with youth instructional and community sailing programs seeks an Executive Director to manage its operations. Piers Park Sailing Center (PPSC) is a non-profit community sailing center located on Boston Harbor. Its mission is to introduce sailing to as many people as possible regardless of ability, socio-economic level and physical challenges.
Piers Park runs a youth development program for children age 10 17. This program provides sailing instruction, leadership and conflict resolution training, health and environmental stewardship to over 500 participants per year. The program, offered from spring thru fall, uses sailing to challenge and empower young people to reach their potential through programs focused on reinforcing values essential for success in school and in life.
PPSC also have a growing community membership program, offering lessons and sailing opportunities to adults, families and corporations on a paid membership basis.

We seek an Executive Director to manage all aspects of general and operational management as well as fundraising, including grant writing. The ED reports to the board of directions, and works with the board to refine and implement the strategic plan of the center. The ED acts as chief advocate for PPSC, articulating its mission and vision to potential funders, including private foundations, corporate sponsors and individual contributors. As head of the management team, the ED oversees the staff which includes an operations director, disabled sailing program director and other specific program directors as well as seasonal instructional staff. The organizational structure is currently undergoing review, and we look to hire an ED who can assist the board in finalizing its reorganization of the operations.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelors degree or equivalent and previous experience with operating a 501(c)(3) organization, including fundraising, budgeting, grant writing and financial planning. Job Description: The team leaders work as part of the YOU team with all staff. The Project Team Leaders must be able to lead a group of youth in a community-based project focused on skill development to include vocational programming in partnership with Boston Public Schools and the Department of Youth Services. The Project Team Leader must be able to work effectively with YOU staff, partnering agencies, law enforcement agencies, community based organizations, youth and parents.
General Responsibilities:
1. Leads team of youth ages 14-24, in project-based activities.
2. Supervises youth participating in projects; designs, implements and adjusts project plan; documents projects progress and challenges throughout the summer.
3. Facilitates the learning of all team members through deliberate daily workshops and activities to prepare members for the world of work and support their academic advancement.
4. Works with all YOU staff to ensure safety and productivity of all youth participants.
5. Maintains and strengthens project partnerships.
6. Conducts daily assessments of youth engaged in projects; participates in case conferences as it relates to youths program involvement.
7. Keeps case notes and meets with other program staff regularly for continuous improvement of the program service delivery.

Director - Promise the Children, inc. (Boston/No. Shore area)
Major Responsibility
Work directly and cooperatively with the Board of Directors to carry out the mission of Promise the Children (PTC). Develop and maintain contact with Unitarian Universalists, related individuals and groups so as to solicit and support their involvement in reflection, advocacy for children and youth, and encourage donations for Promise the Children programs.
Representative Tasks:
· Identify and network with UU individuals and organizations in person, by phone, email and social networking to identify and maintain contacts in six Massachusetts UU churches and eight churches nationally.
· Communicate monthly via our email marketing program suggesting actions that individuals may take when advocating for support for children and youth policies and resources then make phone contact with those who respond.
· Solicit at least five opportunities to speak to UU Groups so as to encourage participants to become PTC Advocates and learn more about Promise the children initiatives. such as, (a) Reform of No Child Left Behind and MCAS testing (b) Improve nutritional value of subsidized food programs for children and youth, -- c. Support of health care for all children.
· Develop a few resources about our major areas of focus that individual volunteers and groups may use in reflecting on the lives of our children and youth today and invite their use by at least four of our volunteers, for example Dr. Krugers film Children left Behind or Mike Roses book Why School?.
· Attend selected UU statewide or UU District meetings in Massachusetts so as gain support for PtC and sign up volunteers.
· Assist in organizing one fundraising event and /or in raising annual gifts from churches.
. Attend selected meetings of community organizations working in our areas of focus.
